New physics syllabus from 2026 onwards for JC students or private candidates or students taking physics tuition classes:
H1 Physics – https://www.seab.gov.sg/files/A%20Level%20Syllabus%20Sch%20Cddts/2026/8867_y26_sy.pdf
H2 Physics – https://www.seab.gov.sg/files/A%20Level%20Syllabus%20Sch%20Cddts/2026/9478_y26_sy.pdf
Singapore Examination and Assessment Board also provided sample papers for the candidates. The papers can be accessed as follows:

Solutions to the H1 and H2 Physics GCE A level examination sample papers are enclosed in the links below
Changes to Physics Assessment for GCE A level examination
The key changes for H2 GCE A level Physics assessment are as follows:
- Handling, applying and evaluation information would have a weightage of 48% as compared to previous 44%
- Application of knowledge with understanding would have a lower weightage of 32% as compared to previous 36%
- In short, there would be greater emphasis on data analysis question which requires multi topical knowledge.
Conversely, for H1 GCE A level Physics assessment, the key changes are as follows:
- Handling, applying and evaluation information would have a lower weightage of 55% as compared to previous 60%
- Application of knowledge with understanding would have a higher weightage of 45% as compared to previous 40%
- In short, there would be less emphasis on data analysis question which requires multi topical knowledge.
- This decision is likely taken to be in line with university admission criteria as H1 subject is no longer included unless it improves the ranking points of the candidate.
Changes to H1 Physics Syllabus for GCE A level examination
The change is fairly minimum except the following below.
- There is no change to the Mechanics syllabus, but there are changes to the way the sequence of the topics to be taught. The topic starts with forces and moments before kinematics and energy.
- Projectile and collisions are singled out as separate topics at the end of the Mechanics package to give these new topics greater emphasis in the learning of physics during tuition, tutorial classes or physics lessons.
- New knowledge to be taught in electricity is I = nAvq involving drift velocity, which was previously only taught in H2 physics.
Changes to H2 Physics Syllabus for GCE A level examination
There are substantial changes.
- Aside to the same changes made in terms of sequencing the learning of the topics in Mechanics, projectile and collisions are singled out as separate topics at the end of the Mechanics package to give these new topics greater emphasis in the learning of physics during tuition, tutorial classes or physics lessons.
- New knowledge to be taught is capacitance. That topic used to be taught in the A level before 2015. There are several types of questions the candidates need to master aside from the normal capacitance, charge, energy stored and potential difference calculation. The student needs to learn about the charging and discharging with full knowledge on time constant as well as what happens when various charged and uncharged capacitors are connected.
- The topic that is removed is X-ray. Instead, wavefunctions are added as a new chapter. This area of study entails understanding the wave function amplitude as a probability density function and the application on one dimensional infinite well potential.
